The Example of a Believer who recites Qur'aan is like a Sweet Smelling Citron

Hadeeth:

Anas said that Aboo Moosa al Ash'aree said that Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“The example of a believer, who recites the Qur’an, is like a citron (utrujjah) which tastes nice and smells nice.

And the example of the believer who does not recite the Qur’aan is like a date that tastes sweet but has no smell.

And the example of the hypocrite who recites the Quran is like sweet basil which smells good but tastes bitter.

And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’an is like a colocynth (bitter apple) which tastes bitter and has a bad smell.”

[Reported in Saheeh al-Bukhari 5111; 7121 and Muslim 797]

. The smell of a fresh citron is very light and sweet. It is a beautiful perfume for the house.
The taste is like that of a lemon but lighter. The white spongy material between the peel and the juice
 is like marshmallow

The one in the picture above measured 15cm wide by 24cm long

The citron  is very rich in vitamin c. It is also said to have anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-viral properties. It is used to treat a variety of conditions including rheumatism, stomach problems and digestive problems. Allaah knows best
