Which Mushaf to buy? Available Sizes of the 'Madeenah Mushaf'

The King Fahd Printing Complex in Madeenah, Saudi Arabia print the following sizes of Mushaf.

The mushaf is authentic and relied upon. It has gone through rigorous testing and checks to ensure there are no mistakes.

They are highly recommended to memorize from due to the fact that all the sizes are typeset in exactly the same format so the aayaat all start at the same place and finish at the same place and the words are also in the same place across all the sizes.

This Madeenah Mushaf typesetting is also found on the Ayat app designed by KSU Qur'aan Project which means that when it is downloaded onto your phone, ipad or laptop it is exactly the same. This helps greatly with memorization and is flexible for all situations such as schools, travelers, individuals, weak sighted learners, small children, older people, beginners and advanced students.

They have printed the following that I am aware of:

1. Full Mushaf A4 size
2. Full Mushaf A5 size
3. Full Mushaf A6 size
4. Full Mushaf in 5 parts A6 size
5. Quarter of the Mushaf from Yaseen to Naas A4 size (used in Qur'aan Schools for kids)
6. Last Juz A4 size (used in primary schools)

To see whether a Mushaf is 'The Madeenah Mushaf' look for the following on the first pages:

Important Comments

There are many prints of mushaf from many countries including Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Pakistan etc. The Qur'aan is one and the same alhamdulillaah. However, there will be differences in certain conventions to help the reader such as the stop signs and the tajweed hints etc. The stop signs will be based on different books and therefore differences occur in the printed mushaf of a certain country.

The guiding rule is stick to what is closer to the sunnah. For example, the sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is to stop at the end of each aayah. So if a mushaf print uses a 'no stop' at the end of the aayah due to it being grammatically linked to the next aayah then we follow the sunnah and stop rather than follow the grammarian who recommended that we do not stop.

Another issue to be aware of is the appearance of 'The Tajweed Qur'aan'. The scholars have said that this type of Mushaf where the tajweed rules are highlighted in different colours is impermissible.
